Water Grid Pylon
Water Grid is an ambitious project of the State government to provide drinking water to every household in the district, in order to eliminate the serious fluoride problem in the district. Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao decided to kick start the works of the project from the district by constructing a Water Grid pylon at Choutuppal.
Panchayat Raj and IT minister K Taraka Rama Rao laid the foundation for the pylon on December 9 last year, and directed the officials to complete the works within a month.
The construction of the pylon, at the agriculture marketyard, is being executed by BVR project contractors. The government allotted one acre 20 guntas land and sanctioned Rs 1.95 crore for the construction of pylon which will be 66 feet in height and 72 feet in width.
Sources said, the pillar will be surrounded by statues of ‘Bathukammas’ on all the sides. The pylon will also have an ornamental structure, a retaining wall, landscaping and a compound wall on three sides, while the front side will be fenced with a gate. Though the CM directed officials to complete the pylon within one month, the works are getting delayed due to technical problems, said officials.
State Energy minister G Jagadish Reddy, district collector N Satyanarayana Reddy, Munugode MLA K Prabhakar Reddy are said to be monitoring the pylon works.
