Tallapaka village is situated approximately 5 km from Rajampet mandal in Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh. The village has a distinction of being the birthplace of revered Saint Annamacharya, the famous Carnatic composer of devotional songs praising Lord Venkateswara. He is known for his invaluable contributions to music and literature in the 15th century. Annamacharya is widely regarded as the Andhra Pada kavita Pitamaha i.e. The Godfather of Telugu poetry/literature.
Thalula Paka literally means a place of palm groves and the village derives its name from Thalapathram or Palm Leaf, the material on which the historical writings were preserved in the olden days. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) had constructed Dhyana Mandiram, a meditation hall at this place in memory of the great Saint Annamacharya, which was inaugurated in the year 1982. TTD has been commemorating the birth and death anniversaries of Annamacharya at Tallapaka village from last three decades, when special rituals are also performed. The village has today emerged as a major spiritual center.
Located near Annamacharya temple, here one can also visit the Chennakeswaraswamy temple and other important temples situated within premises of this temple. Tallapaka is also home to a unique temple depicting the idol of Sudarashanachakra of Lord Vishnu and also that of Lord Santanagopalakrishna together. The temple is considered the one of its kind in South India. Here there is also a temple of Lord Garuthmantha (the vehicle of Lord Vishnu), again considered rare.
