Rajarajeswara Temple :
Rajarajeswara Temple is situated at Thaliparambu, 23-km away from Kannur town, on NH 17.
The deity is Shiva.
In no other temples in Kerala Shiva is known as Rajarajeswara.
The devotees call the Lord here in some pet names also - Perumthrikovilappan, Perumchellurappan, and Thampuran Perumthrikovilappan.
The deity Shiva here in the form of Jyothirlingam is three time more powerful in divinity than any other Shiva temples.
The temple at Taliparamba is among the 108 ancient Kerala temples dedicated to Siva. It is as famous as the Siva temples at Vaikom, Ettumanur and Vadakkunnathan temple at Trichur.
The head of Sati is said to have fallen at the place where Taliparamba temple is situated and her yoni, reproductive organ, at Chongannur. The sanctity of Taliparamba is attributed to this.
The Three Siva Lingas The Sivalinga here is believed to be thousands of years old. Legend has it that Siva gave three sacred Sivalingas to Parvati for worship.
Once sage Maandhata propitiated Lord Siva with intense prayers. Siva was so pleased that he presented one of the Sivalingas to him with the injunction that it should be installed only at a place where there was no cremation ground.
The sage, after searching all over, found Taliparamba the most sacred spot where he installed the linga.
