Pillalamarri

Explore an 800 year old Banyan tree that spreads over 3 acres of land in Pillalamarri in Mahabubnagar district. Pillalamarri is also known as Peerlamarri. This tree has huge roots hanging down from the branches and it spreads forming other trees like children. They say that this tree can accommodate thousands of people in its shade. The locals started calling it the Children’s tree which is the literal translation of the name. It is also called Peerlamarri because beneath the tree there is a Muslim Saint’s tomb. So the locals even call it the Saints tree. Peer means saint and marri means Banyan in local dialect. This attraction is located only 4 kms from Mahbubnagar district.
