KALINGAPATNAM PORT


Located at :-

North :- A line running due east from the boundary pillar on the north bank of the vamsadhara river in Ampalam village to 9 fathoms of water

East :- Nine fathoms line seawards.

South :- A line running due east from the light house to 9 fathoms of water.

West :- A line passing through the light house to the first port limit boundary stops to the west, then northward through the port limits boundary stone to the flag staff situated 780 Yards from the entrance of the vamsadhara river.

Then across the vamsadhra river to the port limit boundary stone situated 50 yards above high water mark on the north bank of the river onto the northern boundary pillar.

on the southern bank of the estuary of river Vamsadhara near its confluence with the sea and is about 45 nautical miles to the north east of Visakhapatnam. It has a good linkage to the road network of the state.


DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL

The port can be developed as lighterage port.

 The development works needed would include construction of short breakwater, creation of navigation channel, construction of wharf, shore facilities and providing of lighterage fleet.

 It is suited for development of a good deep water, all weather port.
