BHAVANAPADU PORT

Area in between the two lines drawn due east upto 10 meters of water sea ward from a point Lat : 18 º 33’ N and Long : 84 º 20’ E as southern limit and drawn due East upto 10 meters of water seaward from a point Lat : 18 º 34.7’ N and Long : 84 º 20’ E as Northern Limit Tekkali creek at about 800 m inside the creek from concluence with sea.

This port is about 80 nautical miles north east of Visakhapatnam.


The port is connected with road network. Although, the port, at present, does not have a railway link, it is only about 7 km south east of Naupada junction through which passes the Kolkata – Chennai railway line.

The nearest airport is Visakhapatnam.


DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL

The hinterland of the port with rich potential of agricultural produce, salt, marine and mineral resources comprises of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts of Andhra Pradesh and mineral rich states Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Southern Orissa.

 No commercial traffic is being handled at this port at present. It has a good potential for development of lighterage port.
