Erode

The District headquarters Erode is a popular centre for Turmeric and Handloom textiles. The Railway junction connects the town to all parts of India. There is a Government Museum in the Municipal Office campus.

Places of Interest

Kodumudi is a popular piligrim centre and it is located in the bank of River Kaveri. The river takes diversion in its flow from South to east at this place. A famous Magudeswarar temple here that the Gods Siva, Vishnu and Brahma are in one campus. It is 40 km from Erode.  Bhavani The Sangameswarar Temple here is situated at the confluence of Rivers Kaveri, Bhavani and Amuthanathi. It resembles of Thriveni Sangamam at Allahabad in North India. Jambai is a place near here is well known for production of Jamakalam or the thick bedspread. Bhavani is 16 kms from Erode.  Kodiveri Dam   is a picnic spot situated 12km from Gobichettipalayam and 65 kms from Erode. A barriage constructed across the River Bhavani is picturesque one in this region.  Bannari  is located 15 kms from Sathiyamangalam. Bannari Mariamman temple is one of the important Sakthi temples in this region. The famous Kundam- Firewalk festival is organised here during April–May every year.  Pariyur The famous "Kondathu Kalliaman" temple is located at Pariyur. The Temple is 10 km from Gobichettipalayam in Erode District.
