Although Nalgonda has a predominantly agrarian economy, it offers a beautiful and unobstructed view into the traditional lifestyle of people, beautiful man-made wonders and intricate craftsmanship that are no visible anywhere else in Andhra Pradesh or India.

The religious sites of the district, such as Matampalli, Wadapally, Yadagirigutta, Kolanupaka, Pangal, Sunkishala and Nagarjuna Sagar attract several devotees from across Andhra Pradesh and rest of India.

The Nagarjuna Sagar, which is home to the tallest masonry dam in the world, is a sacred religious site for Buddhist from around the world.

The centre of the lake has archeological excavations of ancient Buddhist civilisation.

The Somalingeswaraswamy Temple and Sunkishala Temple are major religious sites for Hindus.
