Gudivada Railway Station

Gudivada is a census town, municipality and revenue division in Krishna district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

The name Gudivada was derived from Gudi meaning Temple and Vada means Settlement or town in Telugu language. The presence of Habitationat this town may be dated back to 3rd Century BCE or 2nd Century BCE since the time of Sathavahanas as per some inscriptions.Archaeological excavationsconducted at Gudivada yielded and ancient Buddhist Stupa Mound and also Jain relics. Gudivada is religiously diversified small town with many Hindu Temples and important Jain Tirth of Bhagawan Parshvanath located at market road.

As of 2011 India census, Gudivada had a population of 118,289 up from 112,245 in the 2001 census.Males constituted 49.83% of the population and females 50.17%. Gudivada had an average literacy rate of 82.16%, higher than the national average of 74.04%: male literacy was 86.39%, and female literacy was 77.98%. In Gudivada, 8.4% of the population was under 6 years of age.

Gudivada falls in the hot humid region of the country and it is less than 40 miles from Bay of Bengal. The climate of the town is very hot and it is pleasant during the winter.
