Bapatla Railway Station


Bapatla (formerly known as Bhavapuri, Bhavapatla) is a fast growing town and mandal of Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is located 40 miles (64 km) south of Guntur City on the famous GBC (Guntur-Bapatla-Chirala) Road (NH-214A).

Among its many schools and colleges, Bapatla is very well known for Bapatla Engineering College (also called BEC), Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural College Bapatla, and the College of Agricultural Engineering (also called CAE), college of food science and technology. It also has well known Polytechnic college-Bapatla Polytechnic College.

Bapatla Engineering College is located four km south west of Bapatla on the way to Chirala and hosts a wide range of courses. This college was established in 1980 and is renowned as one of the finest engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh.BEC is very well known for its excellence in procuring a large number of GATE ranks every year. It attained GATE 143rd rank in 2012.

The College of Agricultural Engineering which is located on the Bapatla-Karlapalem road, hosts various courses in agriculture and agricultural engineering. The college of food science and technology is located near guntur railway over bridge. These two colleges are affiliated with the Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University and are the first such colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

The Agricultural College, Bapatla is the oldest Agricultural college in Andhra Pradesh affiliated with Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, Hyderabad. It was established in the year 1945. Over the past decades Bapatla has become known because of the Agricultural College. It is situated in the middle of the town on the Suryalanka Road. The college has produced a great number of scientists who work all over India in various agricultural and allied fields. There are also a number of research institutes of the Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (previously Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University) in Bapatla, such as the Rice Research Unit, Cashew Research Station (now affiliated with Dr. Y. S. Rajashekar Reddy University), Saline Water Research Station, among others. The college has a large farm of 200 acres at the "Guntur Railway Gate". "BPT" varieties of rice which are famous all over India for their fine quality and taste were developed at the Agricultural College, Bapatla.

A number of well-known important schools add to the town's status. Highly regarded, are The Holy cross E.M School, The Bapatla Public School, Little Angels High School, Sri Tagore's Institutes, Sadhana High School and St.Paul's High School. There are also some very old schools in the center of the town such as the Municipal High School, ABM High School and AVV High School.
