Vemagiri Power Generation
The GMR Group's third power generation project is a natural gas based thermal power plant with an installed capacity of 388.5 MW. It is located at Vemagiri, 12 kilometres away from Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh.

Project Features:
The project is awarded on the basis of International Competitive Bidding (ICB)
The plant configuration is one each of GE 9FA Advanced Class Gas Turbine, Alstom Steam Turbine and L&T-CMI Heat Recovery Steam Generator in 1+1+1 configuration.
M/s Gas Authority of India Ltd. (GAIL) is the Natural Gas (Fuel) supplier
M/s Larsen & Toubro is the EPC Contractor
The water source is from upstream of River Godavari
Project Milestones:
First water drawl completed on 26 th May 2005 from River Godavari
First gas drawl completed on 28 th July 2005
Gas Turbine First Fire and Full Speed No Load Test completed on 14 th December 2005
Gas Turbine Generator's first synchronisation with the Grid on 13 January, 2006.
Financial Closure of Vemagiri Project
The project was able to garner loan sanctions from over 20 banks in excess of Rs. 15,000 million, nearly twice the debt requirement.
We own 100% of the Mangalore power plant and the Vemagiri power plant, and 51% of the Chennai power plant.
