Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary:
Location
Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary is situated some 50 kilometres away from Warrangal town, alongside a man made lake named Pakhal in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The distance from Hyderabad is about 112 kms and the place is connected by a number of roads.

Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary is a great tourist place not far from Warrangal.
The place features beautiful landscapes and an environment dominated by nature itself.
The sanctuary is spread good over 860 square kilometres.
The sanctuary has been named after the man made lake Pakhal lake that was excavated during the first decade of the 13th century.
The tropical deciduous forests and the wildlife makes it an exhilarating place. The park is home to great many species of wild animals.
The sprawling flat land and low hills make up the enivrons at Pakhal.
The place was established as a wildlife sanctuary in the year 1952.
Attractions
Biological diversity is the key feature of the sanctuary.
The place is inhabited by many a species of woodland animals who roam around in the cover of the forest.
The flora and fauna, for which it has gained quite a reputation include:
Flora: Most of the forest area is covered by dry deciduous plant life interspersed at few places with evergreen vegetation.
The evergreen species include Aegele marmelos and Mallotus philippensis. Deciduous vegetation includes Adina cordifolia, Bombax ceiba, Bridelia retusa, etc.
The names are for people who have a taste for botanical names. For a layman the area is lined up with big and rough trees some of which are colored dark green all through the year.
The forest floor is covered with shrubs and dense bushes at some places.
Fauna: Among animal species we have leopard, sambhar, nilgai, sloth bear, spotted deer, mountain gazelle, four horned antelope, wild boar and black buck. There is also a large number of migratory birds that come in the breeding season.

From Hyderabad city the road distance to Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary is about 112 kms.
There are private tour operators who run their buses to the place.
One can also access the place by taking a bus to Warrangal and from there on switch to the one plying for the park. Train services are available up to Warrangal.
Best time to visit
November to May is the best time to visit the place. The temperature is then tolerable.

Accommodation is provided by PWD Rest House. It is advised to make an early booking for the Rest House.
