Under development is a 250 km naval variant, called Dhanush (Bow) SRBM.
The naval variant was first tested on 11 April 2000 from one of the Indian Navy’s Sukanya Class vessels.
It has been reliably learnt, that the test did not reach the desired level of performance.
A second test was reportedly conducted in December 2000, but that has not been confirmed through reliable sources.
The last test on 21 September 2001, was a success and the missile met the entire mission objective.
Dhanush, which has a 500 kg payload, was tested to a range of only 150 km.
It appears that the missile is only a technology demonstrator needed to ascertain technologies for the eventual launch of ballistic missiles at sea.
Additional tests are expected to be conducted in the future.
