Central Iowa Telugu Association (CITA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to assure greater awareness of Telugu culture and to bring in unity among Telugu community of Central Iowa. Formed in 2009, CITA is one of the fastest growing Indo-American organizations in Central Iowa. CITA was formally registered as a non-profit organization under chapter 501A of the Iowa Code, 2005.
CITA celebrates various Telugu festivals annually and encourages participation by members and well-wishers at these events. CITA will organize celebrations for three festivals every year. CITAMembership is open to any one interested in Telugu culture or literature.
CITA also organizes special cultural events from time to time, performed by various artists. CITA participates in the Independence Day celebrations organized by other non-profit Indian Associations and has an Andhra Float during the parade. In addition, CITA participates in the local Indian events and fundraisers as well.
CITA Executive Committee mmbers are elected every year. CITA executive committe members conduct day-to-day operations of the organization. The non-executive members are nominated by the Executive committee for a specific responsibility.
Objectives of CITA
To preserve, maintain, and perpetuate the cultural heritage of the people of Telugu origin in Central Iowa.
To assist and propagate cultural, literary, educational, social, and community affairs of the people of Telugu origin in Central Iowa.
To serve as a central resource for all Telugu related issues to the Iowa telugu community.
To organize and promote Telugu cultural, literary and educational events in Central Iowa.
To raise funds for natural disasters in India and US either directly or in cooperation with other non-profit organizations.
