The Andhra Pradesh Commissions are the body formed by the state government with certain responsibilities and it grants full authority to the body to carry on the duties. Experienced bureaucrats and officials, holding administrative portfolios at the top level are appointed to look after the operations of the commissions. The main Commissions in Andhra Pradesh, that the state government has formed are:
Public Service Commission:
The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission or APPSC was established according to Indian Constitution's Article Number 315(1). Headed by a secretary and an additional secretaries, the commission has some very important objectives:
Recruitment to posts and services under the state through examinations and interviews.
Advising the government on matters related to recruitment methods.
Advising on officers' appointments and transfers.
Other miscellaneous duties.
State Election Commission:
The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioned has been designed to ensure fair , free and peaceful elections in the state. This includes the Gram Panchayat, Nagar Panchayat, Zilla Parishad, Municipality and municipal corporation elections.
Electricity Regulatory Commission:
Constituted in 1999, the Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Commission has dedicated itself solely in the improvement of the power sector in the state. Another main objective of the commission is to protect the interests of the power consumers.
