Rampachodavaram, is a census town in East Godavari district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh It is the headquarters of the Yellavaram Mandal.
Chodavaram is located at 17.4500°N 81.7667°E It has an average elevation of 162 metres (534 ft).
The 2001 census gives Rampachodavaram a population of 9633. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Rampachodavaram has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 79%, and female literacy is 69%. In Rampachodavaram, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age. Most of the native residents are scheduled tribes.
Rampachodavaram is a tribal village, 50 km from Rajahmundry in East Godavari District. It can be reached by a thrilling launch ride on Godavari River. The surrounding villages are very popular with regional film makers for its untouched natural beauty.
At Rampachodavaram, the tourists can see the traditional tribal dance, Vela, performed by women dressed in bright clothes. Another tribal dance called Kommu, performed by men dressed in typical tribal clothes with a headgear of horns, is also interesting.
About 20 km from Rampachodavaram is a hill station called Maredumilli, which is rich in coffee and rubber plantations. One can enjoy the wildlife of the area, while driving through the dense forest.
