Toy Trains :


Indian Railways is a state operated network which runs tourist special narrow gauge toy trains. The journey through toy trains is marvelous and a life time experience for an individual. Apart from two popularly known, Ooty and Darjeeling Himachal Railways, there are two more trains which are known by Toy Trains. These include Kalka - Shimla trains (the Shivalik Deluxe train and the Shivalik Palace tourist coach) and the other being Neral-Matheran line (the 'Matheran Light Railway' or MLR).

The Kalka - Shimla route is 96 KM long with 102 tunnels, 869 bridges and 919 curves. This line provides a journey through beautiful hill side which is just an unforgettable experience for a nature lover. Its track was re-gauged to 2'6" from 2'.

Another 2' gauge line is Neral-Matheran line which is accessible from the main Mumbai-Pune section. This train is running from year 1907. It is also running through the beautiful hill sides. It passes through a tunnel 'One Kiss Tunnel', a reference to how short it is.
