Deccan Queen :

The Deccan Queen was started initially as a week end special by the Britishers. This train runs between Mumbai and Pune. The train is a daily means of transport for thousand of passengers. Deccan Queen is also famous by the name of dakhkhanchii raanii in Marathi language. Some people call it as Dakshin Ki Rani (ranee) meaning the queen of south (deccan).

After its launch, this train was converted to a daily train in a short while. Deccan Queen has a great history which states that this is one of the longest trains that never ran of any steam power. From its launch the Deccan Queen is running on a complete electrified line. Only during the electric failures this train was put on diesel engine.

Deccan Queen is the only train in India to get the ISO 9000 certification and to have a dining car.
