Air Costa :
Air Costa is an Indian regional airline based in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The first flight was on October 2013, from Chennai which is one of their main operating and maintenance hubs.[1][2][3] It is part of the LEPL Group, a Vijayawada-based company, and has started with 300 employees including expatriate pilots and engineers[4] and commenced scheduled operations in October 2013 using two Embraer E-170 aircraft.
The airline plans to focus on improving connectivity between tier II and tier III cities in India and has announced an investment of 150 million dollars by 2015.[5] The airline also plans to set up a Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Vijayawada Airport by 2015.[4] The airline currently has a maintenance centre at the Chennai International Airport.
The LEPL group received a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Civil Aviation in February 2012.[6] The airline initially planned to start operations with a fleet of Q400 aircraft. However, Air Costa's decision to acquire Embraer Jets was made public at the Paris Air Show in June 2013.[7] Air Costa received its Air Operators’ Permit (AOP) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in September 2013.[8] As of September 2015, Air Costa, which holds a regional airline's license, applies to the aviation regulator DGCA for its license to be upgraded to that of a national airlines
As of April 2015, Air Costa flies to 9 destinations in India including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Vijaywada, Jaipur, Ahmedabad. It plans to add more destinations like Bhopal, Indore, Pune, Guwahati within few years. Currently, Air Costa flies to the following destinations.
