Varada raja temple :

Varada raja temple kanchipuram is also called the Devaraja Swamy temple.

Varadarajaaka Perumal is a magnificent temple, where a resplendent lord Vishnu, seated on a throne, holds court.


Varadaraja temple is a Divya Desam, one of the 108 primary Vishnu temples.

The Dhwajasthambham is made of a single piece of stone.

The idol of Sri Varadaraja Perumal is housed in the sacred Pushkarini tank .

 The deity is taken out only once in 40 years for worship by devotees.
Varadaraja Perumal temple, a major attraction in Vishnu Kanchi or kanchipuram, is situated on a small hill known as Hastigiri.

The Vijayanagar kings constructed the temple, whose grand Gopuras are architectural marvels.

 The sculptures in the Halls of Thousand and Hundred Pillars are marvelous.


Real-looking chains carved out of stones speak volumes about the architectural workmanship.
The divine consort is Perundevi Thayar.

Yoga Narasimha is enshrined in a cave below Hastigiri.
In the sacred tank known as Anantha Theertha, Lord Attigiri Varadaraja is lying below water.

He is taken out only once a hundred years.


In the sanctum, the imposing image of the Lord Varadaraja is in a standing posture holding Shanku, Chakra and Gadha. One has to climb 24 steps to reach the sanctum.

The Dwajasthambam, made of stone, is 100 feet high. There are five Prakaras around the sanctum.
