Tapeswaram Kaja :

There are several places in AP known for their speciality and uniqueness in terms of cuisine and culture and one such special sweet from East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh is Tapeswaram Kaja.

Also called as Madatha Kaja,

it is named after a village Tapeswaram here, which is also home to a popular Shivalayam and is known for its unique taste.

 It consists of fried layered rolls made with all-purpose maida flour and served after being dipped in sugar syrup.

The dish takes more than one hour to cook.

The main ingredients used are Maida, baking powder, oil and for sugar syrup, Sugar is used along with water and a small quantity of Lemon Juice.

The sweet tastes good when served hot, but these are packed in thousands and transported freshly to important towns and cities of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as they stay fresh for considerable period of time.

The sweet packets of Tapeswaram Kaja are offered as souvenirs on special occasions and festivals to people living in Hyderabad, from their friends and relatives hailing from Coastal Andhra.

In short, Tapeswaram Kaja is the pride of Andhra, and a  delicacy that has to be savored  to relish its taste.
