Brahma Temple

Brahma Temple is the most important of all the temples at Pushkar and one of the very few Brahma temples in existence in India.

This is curious as Brahma is one of the Hindu Trinity along with Vishnu and Shiva and there are numerous temples dedicated to the latter two all over India.

These are several interesting legends and intellectual theories to explain this fact, The temple is marked by a red spire and over the entrance gateway is a beautiful statue of a ‘Hans' or goose - the celestial carrier of Lord Brahma.

Inside the temple's sanctum there is a fine, four armed life-sized statue of Brahmaji in a seated Palthi position..

Another interesting feature are the coins studded in the floor of the temple, placed by devotees from all over India to commemorate the births and deaths of their loved ones.

The other place of religious interest includes Savitri Temple that draws countless devotees every year from across the world. Dedicated to the first wife of Lord Brahma, it is located on the hill behind Brahma temple and can be reached by a flight of steps. It also offers a panoramic view of the lake and the surrounding desertscape.
