Parnasala is a picturesque spot, about 36 kilometres from Bhadrachalam.
Legends claim that Lord Rama spent several years in Parnasala during his 14-year exile and because of this mythological heritage, Parnasala is an important pilgrimage site for Hindus.
It also is claimed that Lord Rama killed Mareecha in this spot when he disguised himself as a golden deer to lure away Goddess Sita.
There is even a hillock here where it is believed that Ravana, the demon king, parked his flying chariot called pushpaka.
