GD functions focus on effective utilization of the engineering shops in the steel plants. Main objectives of GD are:
Effective utilization of captive engineering facilities of each steel plant.
Providing technical help to manufacture specified equipment to cater to present requirement as well as long-term expansion and modernization.
Undertake projects within SAIL plants or outside
