History of Razole



Razole or Rajolu is a village in Greater Rajahmundry City and mandal in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, India.Razole is part of the scenic Konaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. The village is surrounded by the river Vashishta (Godavari) and is marked by coconut and palm trees. Its beauty attracted several Tollywood directors. Movies like Ladies Tailor, Chanti,Kabaddi Kabaddi, and Village lo Vinayakudu were shot in and around Razole. The well known resort at Dindi is located in Razole at the banks of river Godavari.

This village is the birthplace of Shri. B. Suryanarayana Murthy Garu, the renowned journalist, poet, short story writer, essayist, a six-term Parliamentarian (only MP from the South) and Health Minister in the Nehru cabinet.

Novelist Yandamuri Veerendranath and actress Anjali were also born in Razole.

There are many famous pilgrimage locations around Razole i.e. Appanapalli and Antarvedhi etc. Appanapalli is famous for Lord bala Balaji Temple, this is the first temple which started free meals to the devotees. Antarvedhi is famous for Lakshmi Narasimha Temple, every year a grand festival is celebrated named as Antarvedhi Teertham.

The culture in Razolu is rural with a mix of urban culture.

There are multiple temples in this village; Lord Balaji Old and Lord Balaji New Temple, Lord Siva Temple in the midst of the village and Kanakadurgamma Temple and also Grama Devatha Temples in Central Market. There are multiple government primary schools and upper primary schools and also a Government Degree College in Razole. Razolu is one of the Assembly constituencies. The current MLA is Rapaka Vara Prasad from Indian National Congress.

The medical facilities are very good with famous private medical hospitals like Raju Heart Hospital, Gopala krishna ENT and EYE hospital, and few others. There is also government Hospital near to central Market.
