Vistara is an Indian airline based in Gurgaon with its hub at Delhi-Indira Gandhi International Airport. The carrier, a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, commenced operations on 9 January 2015 with its inaugural flight between Delhi and Mumbai[4] and had carried a total of 500,000 passengers by August 2015.[5] As of October 2015, the airline operates 279 weekly scheduled passenger services across 11 domestic destinations within India with a fleet of 7 Airbus A320-232 aircraft.[6] Vistara was the first airline to introduce premium economy seats on domestic routes in India
In March 2015, Vistara shifted to its new office at the One Horizon Center tower in Sector 43, Gurgaon, a satellite city of Delhi.[23][24]
Vistara chose Phee Teik Yeoh to serve as the chief executive officer (CEO) and Giam Ming Toh as chief commercial officer (CCO), both are with Singapore Airlines background.[25] Initially it started out with a three-member board comprising Swee Wah Mak, Mukund Rajan and Prasad Menon, a Tata group veteran, as chairman.[26] In August 2015, the airline expanded the board by introducing 2 new members, Som Mittal and Sangeeta Pendurkar in it along with equity infusion of ₹2 billion ($29.92 million) part of ₹5 billion initially planned by Tata and SIA together.
