Anand Eye Institutes :
History:
In 2001, we started as an exclusive super specialized eye center dedicated to the treatment of Vitreo Retinal Diseases. We have treated a variety of cases coming in from all over Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka. In 2007, the institute was renamed to Anand Vitreo Retinal Institute Private Limited. Dr. G.A. Ananda Rao and Dr. Satish G. Agraharam, highly skilled and dedicated Ophthalmic surgeons, became directors of the institute.
In 2012 with the vision to expand the services and to encompass all disciplines of Ophthalmology, the institute was renamed as Anand Eye Institute Private Limited.
Ideology:
Anand Eye Institutes main goal is to establish a world class training facility while delivering quality care to the local community.
India is home to the highest number of blind people, both reversible blindness from cataracts and irreversible blindness from Glaucoma, Diabetes, Macular Degeneration and Ocular Infections. According to published data, it has been estimated that India needs 25,000 Ophthalmologists by 2020 to achieve the goals of VISION 2020: The Right to Sight.
India will need 300 new residents to graduate every year to help meet the growing demands of an aging population. AEI plans to enroll residents every year along with fellowship programs that focus on Glaucoma, the Cornea, the Retina and comprehensive Ophthalmology.
These programs will give doctors a chance to experiment and train while using world class equipment. By establishing a structured residency program, AEI will train future Ophthalmologists to address the growing burden of blindness and other vision-related disorders. With this training program, we hope to expand and improve the delivery of quality eye care to all sections of the Indian population.
