Somasila Dam :


Somasila is a small town in Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh, India.

It is well known for the Shiva temple and the Somasila dam across the Penna River.

The temple has a long history and is located next to the dam.

 The project was built in the tenure of Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao.

 Penna Baddevolu is one of those villages and is located downstream of the Penna River.

The Somsila reservoir serves water needs of total Penna delta and few more barrages located in the downstream across the river.

Not only with the temple here, the village has so many attractions regarding water falls, some adventurous trekking and ashramam.

It is one of the most beautiful place in Nellore District and the winter is the best time to visit.
