THE BEST WATERFALLS IN INDIA TO VISIT THIS MONSOON

India is beautiful and has a lot to offer besides its regular sightseeing points and highly frequented holiday destinations. Jog Falls, Karnataka

Often also referred to as the Gersoppa Falls and Jogada Gundi, the Jog Falls are the second-highest waterfall in India located at Sagara, Karnataka.

A popular tourist point, the Jog Falls are best enjoyed during the monsoons when the sight of the water gushing down is an absolute treat! It is estimated that around 3.4 million tonnes of water actually flows down the cliff during the monsoons. Also, for the more adventurous folks,, you can trek down the hill and get to the bottom of the falls.

You can also drive to the top of the falls in your vehicle. Just 380 KMS from Bangalore, the Jog Falls make for an ideal place to visit during the monsoons over a weekend, with the journey from Bangalore to Shimoga itself being a very beautiful one made up of windmills on the hills and dense arecanut plantations.

EzeeTip - A walk down to the falls means overcoming over 2,500 steps! We suggest you carry sufficient water and a few drinks of glucose if possible to ensure you keep hydrated. As these steps can get slippery during the monsoon, well suited footwear is a must.

Kune Falls, Maharashtra

Lonavala is a picnic hot-spot and famous weekend getaway in Maharashtra, however, the Kune falls are at their very best during the monsoons and will never really tire you no matter how many times you pay it a visit!

These 200 meter high, 3 tier waterfalls look like a waterfall gallery with the many streams and waterfalls that flow by.

Bhimlat Falls, Rajasthan

Camels, Sand Dunes, dance and music & rugged terrain is what we usually associate with. However, the Bhimlat falls located near Bundi village is like some well preserved secret of Rajasthan.

Although these falls maybe just 60 feet high, the fall actually produces a musical sound, the water which then goes on to form a pool that’s easily accessible by a flight of steps.

We always were aware about Rajasthan having an ace up its sleeve and here’s one more classic example!

Athirapally Falls, Kerala

Situated in the Thrissur district of Kerala,the Athirappilly Falls are usually refferred to as the “Niagara of India” These falls are 80 feet high and actually form a part of the Chalakudy River. Surrounded by forested area, the place seems quiet to begin with, but as you get higher and higher, you’ll be able to hear various birds singing, some of which you can easily recognize from their calls.

As you trek down towards the bottom of the falls, the thundering sound of the water rushing down and the sight of thefishermen busy catching fish and children  frolicking makes your day!
