Andhra Pradesh cricket team


The Andhra Pradesh cricket team is an Indian domestic cricket team representing the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, barring its capital, Hyderabad, which has its own cricket team. It is one of the two cricket teams from Andhra Pradesh. The team's home ground is the APCA-VDCA Stadium at Visakhapatnam, but some of their home matches are also played at Vijayawada andAnantapur.t has never featured in a Ranji Trophy final and has therefore never had a chance to participate in the Irani Trophy. In the 2007/08 season Andhra achieved two wins out of six in the Elite Group of the Ranji Trophy, missing out of the semi-finals. It falls under the South Zone of Indian cricket. In the 2007-08 season, the Andhra Pradesh cricket team was captained by Mannava Prasad. The contingent also included Arjun Kumar, Mohammad Faiq, Sarath Babu and Paidikalva Vijaykumar.

In a recent match held in February 2013 in Goa, Andhra Pradesh played an outstanding game to beat the host team Goa by an embarrassing 170-run in the South Zone meet at the Vijay Hazare (Vijay Hazare Trophy) National One Day Championship. Played with superb all round batting and ferocious bowling, Andhra Pradesh scored 261 for six in 50 overs with the star player of the game, K.S. Bharat notching up 125 runs. Likewise, the Goa team saw a humiliating deafeat at the hands of the Andhra bowlers at just 91 in 25.4 overs.
