1980 MW Coal based TPP by Thermal Powertech (India) Ltd
The company is planning to take up setting up of 3×660 MW Coal Based Supercritical THERMAL POWER PLANT in two stages viz. Phase-I: 2×660 MW and Phase-II: 1×660 MW). Land required will be 1367 Acres. Beneficiated Indian and imported coal will be used in the ratio of 70:30. Coal linkage from Mahanadi Coal Fields has been obtained. Imported coal will be transported from Krishnapatnam Port by conveyor belt. The blended coal will have about 26% Ash content and Sulphur content of 0.59%. Sea water from the Bay of Bengal will be used for operation of the plant. Water requirement will be 334464 cum/day. Stack height will be 275 m (Bi-Flue) for Stage-I and 275 m (single Flue for Stage-II). Total Coal required will be 6.90 MTPA. Ash pond area will be 210 Acres. Buckingham Canal is at a distance of 100 m in the western side of the plant boundary. A creek is located 150 m away from the boundary of the plant in the southern side.
The project was considered for issuing Environment Clearance on Aug 12, 2009 and the Environment Clearance was issued on Nov 4, 2009
