(దూరదర్శన్ సప్తగిరి) is a state owned TV channel telecasting from Doordarshan Kendra Hyderabad.
Doordarshan Kendra Hyderabadwas inaugurated by the then President of India, Neelam Sanjiva Reddy on 23 October,1977.
The service has been extended to the entire state in a phased manner by installing Terrestrial Transmitters of different capacities ( HPTs, LPTs, VLPTs ) in different parts of the state.
In addition to the Terrestrial transmission, DD Hyderabad programmes are beamed through DTH and cable networks.
Doordarshan Kendra Hyderabad’s Regional Network in Telugu took on a new identity as “DD Saptagiri”, on 2 April, 2003. This service is viewed in India and some parts of the world.
Before 1995 Doordarshan Hyderabad was the only television channel broadcasting Telugu programs.
The channel maintained its monopoly till private channels were launched in 1996.
